Clean Air

eagle in the sky We are continuing to make positive air quality changes. By May of 2005, we will have reduced nitrogen oxide emissions (a component of ground-level ozone) by 88 percent in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, 66 percent in west Texas and 51 percent in east and central Texas.

In the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, more than 80 percent of smog-causing emissions come from mobile sources like cars and trucks. Power plant emissions account for less than 9 percent of annual area emissions - falling to less than 2 percent by 2005.

Because our efforts alone will not solve the ground-level ozone problem, TXU has partnered with the North Texas Clean Air Coalition. Together we are publicizing summer tips on how drivers in the area can do their share to clean the air. Improving air quality is everyone's concern and we are committed to helping improve air quality in our area cities and towns.
