Power Plants

Production Employees Luminant has a balanced portfolio of merchant generation plants – a total of 19 in North America. This diverse fleet includes 14 gas, one nuclear and four lignite-coal fueled plants to meet the energy needs of more than 5.9 million customers. In addition to nuclear- and fossil fuel-produced power, Luminant’s affiliate purchases wind-generated, renewable energy to supply the needs of the competitive market. Luminant’s affiliate is currently the largest purchaser of wind generation in Texas and the fifth-largest contractor for wind power in the U.S., providing enough energy to power more than 113,000 homes -- or to supply the annual energy needs of about 260,000 Texans.
