TXU improved dramatically in 2005 over 2004 in all key safety indicators. In the Edison Electric Institute's category of Lost Time Incident rate, TXU moved from top quartile to top decile in 2005 and got a step closer to achieving top decile in safety across the board. Its ranking for both Days Away, Restricted, or Transferred (DART) improved 40 percent and Preventable Vehicle Accidents improved 27 percent. Many TXU business units had significant safety achievements last year. Sadly, however, the company also experienced a fatality, underscoring the fact that TXU employees often work in difficult, dangerous situations to provide an essential service. (see charts)
